Energy Saving Switch
Switch to the Energy Saving
Switch
The word 'switch' is one that I have realised that I take for
granted. Being in this modern world of ours, I take the using
of a energy saving switch as second nature and do not even give
the use of the device a second thought.
Let us look at examples of the variety of switches we deal with
everyday.
-
Household appliances switches which are found in computers,
vacuum cleaners, dishwashers, computers, and light bulbs
for example.
-
Power Tools switches which are found in power drills,
battery powered screwdrivers, jigsaws,
planers and circular saws for
example.
-
Motor vehicles even have a variety of switches for the
heating, airconditioning, electric windows, dvd player and
door locks.
Energy saving strategies can be extended
to the insignificant energy saving switch! Believe it or not an
energy saving switch will definitely cut down your energy bills
and help you save some money
Here are examples of energy
saving switches.
1. Energy saving switch for doorbells
You must be asking yourself right now 'Is there really an
energy saving switch for the humble doorbell?' Doorbells come
in a variety of sizes, shapes and tones. We love doorbells
because we can program them to a variety of tones
and adjust the volume. Nowadays there is the wireless
digital doorbell and no wires are needed. Some doorbell
switches have battery-operated receivers and transmitters.
There is a new wireless switch that uses a small
micro-generator to convert each switch-press into a small
amount of electricity that powers a built-in transmittor.
Whether this technology will graduate from light switches to
door bells remains to be seen.
2. Energy saving switch for rechargeable
flashlights
Rechargeable torches or flashlights is a must-have for anyone
in this day and age. Their uses are numerous and the occasions
for their use are always unpredictable. It is an energy saving
switch if it can accomodate a 5-volted bulb, if it can reach
100 minutes lighting time, if it's waterproof. It is important
to note that an energy saving switch for rechargeable
flashlights must have a protection circuit.
3. Energy saving switch for battery
chargers
Energy saving switch for battery chargers is gauged by its
features like charging circuits, independent charging channels
and auto-stop feature after it is completely charged. Consider
it energy saving if it has an input voltage of 85 volts
(minimum) and 265 volts (maximum).
4. Energy saving switch for digital remote
control
It is considered energy saving if it works in a 315 MHZ or
433.92 frequency and it has a 220 voltage or 50 hertz. It can
be used for energy saving lamp with 500 watts maximum.
Here is useful
information about
energy saving switch categories.
1. Illuminated Rocker Switches
Energy saving illuminated rocker switches are those that have a
diverse collection of pushbuttons and toggle models. They come
in miniature and default sizes, that are easily snapped-in with
great styles. These energy saving switches are equipped with
terminals that connect swiftly and actuators. There are ratings
for mechanical life at 30,000 operations minimum for
circuits and for electrical life at 15,000 minimum for
maintained circuits and 10,000 operations minimum for momentary
circuits.
2. Miniature slide switches
Compact, bright and flexible, these switches are indeed energy
saving. Their terminals can even blot out contaminant plus they
have a self-cleaning feature. They save energy, indeed!
3. Tactile switches
These switches can be washed, can you believe that? They have a
more prominent force, and they are designed flexibly. They are
sealed with rubber and are secured firmly. This is an energy
saving switch you can't miss.
4. Toggle switches
Toggle switches is a class of electrical switch actuated by a
mechanical lever, handle or rocking mechanism.Toggle switches
can be energy saving because they banish contamination. They
provide automated smoldering, which then saves money and time,
too! Energy saving toggle switches are more stable and has an
actuation smoother than the rest.
5. Keylock switches
If you're looking for high-security and at the same time energy
saving, then stick to keylock switches which have great
insulation and rugged housing. They are efficiently sealed for
protection. They are also self-cleaning and last long, so
you're assured to save energy!
6. Pushbutton switches
Pushbutton switch is probably the cheapest switch there is. The
offerings include snap action, wiping contact and miniature
butt contact types with a variety of circuitry. You can
configure it over and over, you never have to problem with its
soldering because it is automatic, and you have a decent
actuation that prods better stability. It's sealed in epoxy or
molded-in to avoid contaminants. The markets include
telecommunications, defence, medical and measurement
equipment.
7. Rotary switches
A rotary switch is a type of switch that is used on devices
which have more than ne differnet state or modes of operation
such as a three speed fan or a CB radio with multiple channels.
Rotary switch makes for perfect energy saving switch because
it's made up of zinc which makes it stronger than the rest,
assuring quality performance.
8. Tilt Switches
Tilt switch is sealed to protect itself from harmful elements
like hydrogen sulfide, among others. The terminals can even
ward off ammonia to guarantee quality performance and save
energy. Safety concerns are not a problem with tilt switches as
they are aptly suited to keep contaminants away.
Industry News
Ad Hoc Electronics have announced a new
line of self powered wireless controls that reduce the amount
of time and material needed to install green building
management systems. The Illumra product line includes wireless
light switches and sensors that are self powering using
mechanical or solar energy sources.
Conclusion
In this day and age, crisis is as natural
as the air we breathe so we must do our part to alleviate these
potential challenges. We should be using equipment and tools
that will enhance our savings. We can start with the
energy saving switch. It may appear an insignificant change but
remember the might of a waterfall begins with just one drop of
water.
Remember, reducing your
electricity bill is equivalent to saving power, thus helping
the world save power for its future generations.
